CAUTION. The theft of dogs is on the increase. If you are advertising a dog for sale, be on your guard when you get a telephone call. This is one way thieves can get hold of your actual address, which you should never advertise. One good safeguard when you get a call is to ask for a landline number for you to call back on and don't give your address until you have called back and you have kept a note of the number. Be extremely cautious about anyone who will only give you a mobile number. This could suggest the caller is of an itinerant nature - the class of person most likely to be a dog thief!
